Founder - Michaela Ivri Mendelsohn
Michaela Ivri Mendelsohn is a transgender activist, professional speaker and corporate CEO with over 40 years of entrepreneurial leadership experience. 

Her leadership and advocacy for trans women in the workplace has positioned her as the "go to" representative of the Transgender Community for major news organizations all over the country, and an in‐demand speaker all over California.

She is currently the CEO of Pollo West Corp, one of the largest franchises for El Pollo Loco restaurant in the Western Region of the United States. A groundbreaking business leader, Michaela passionately advocates for trans women in the workplace through her work with the California Restaurant Association.  She is the founder of the California Trans Work Project (CTWP), which creates models for transpositive workplaces in California and across the country. This project was 4 years in the making and was modeled after the success of her own restaurants.  

Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti recently appointed Michaela as the first trans person to serve on his board.

The TransLatin@ Coalition is an organization form by Trans Latin@ leaders who have come together in 2009 to organize and advocate for the needs of Trans Latin@s who are immigrants and reside in the US. Since its inception The TransLatin@ Coalition has done advocacy work across the US to ensure the voices of Trans Latin@s are heard. The TransLatin@ Coalition’s sole purpose is to address the unique and specific challenges and needs of Trans Latin@s who live in the United States. Working with policy makers and supporting organizations we find solutions to our unique needs and create structural changes to better our quality of life. 

Members of the TransLatin@ Coalition are TransLatin@ Leaders who reside in different parts of the US who organize and advocate for the issues and needs of Trans Latin@ Individuals who reside in the United States.

The Transgender Health Program (THP) at St. John’s Well Child & Family Center is committed to protecting and improving the health of all transgender people in our communities. The Transgender Health Program provides services Monday thruFriday for free or low-cost, regardless of ability to pay. The comprehensive health services provided are:

  • Legal name & gender marker change assistance
  • Victim Advocacy and Outreach Program
  • Trans* Empower Program – economic and education case management services

  • Trans* Community Night – monthly social group (3rd Friday at 6pm)
